Commutation

In lieu of the grant of a pension or annual allowance there may, with the
approval of the Governor, be granted to an officer if he intends to reside in
India or in China, a capital sum equal to the amount of 5 annual payments, but
no such capital sum shall ordinarily be paid in any case of retirement on the
ground of ill-health: Provided that for the purposes of this regulation such
annual payments shall be the remaining portions after deduction of the annual
contribution, if any, due in respect of widows and orphans pension.
