ELECTORAL AFFAIRS COMMISSION (FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL ELECTIONS AND DISTRICT COUNCIL ELECTIONS) (APPLICATION AND PAYMENT PROCEDURE) REGULATION - SECT 8

Payment of claims after verification

(1) Subject to— (L.N. 80 of 2007)

   (a)  (in the case of a claim made by an eligible LC candidate or made in
        respect of an eligible list of LC candidates) section 60J of the
        Legislative Council Ordinance ( Cap 542); or

   (b)  (in the case of a claim made by an eligible DC candidate) section 60I
        of the District Councils Ordinance ( Cap 547), the Chief Electoral
        Officer is to effect a payment of financial assistance according to
        this section. (L.N. 80 of 2007)

(2) After verifying the claim, the Chief Electoral Officer must certify the
amount of financial assistance payable on the claim and notify the Director of
Accounting Services of the amount and the person to whom it is to be paid.

(3) As soon as practicable after receiving the notification, the Director of
Accounting Services must make the payment in accordance with the notification.

(4) The payment under subsection (1) is to be made—

   (a)  in the case of a claim made by an eligible LC candidate or
        eligible DC candidate or made in respect of an eligible list of LC 
        candidates consisting of only one candidate, to the candidate who has
        signed the claim form; or

   (b)  in the case of a claim made in respect of an eligible list of 
        LC candidates consisting of more than one candidate, to the candidate
        nominated under section 3(3A) to receive the payment on behalf of the
        candidates on the list. (L.N. 80 of 2007)
