ELECTORAL PROCEDURE (VILLAGE REPRESENTATIVE ELECTION) REGULATION - SECT 5

Director of Home Affairs to determine nomination period

(1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), the nomination period shall be
determined by the Director of Home Affairs.

(2) The nomination period-

   (a)  for a village ordinary election shall not begin earlier than the day
        on which the village election notice is published in the Gazette; or

   (b)  for a village by-election shall not begin earlier than the day on
        which the village by-election notice is published in the Gazette.

(3) The nomination period-

   (a)  shall not be less than 7 days; and

   (b)  shall end not less than 12 days before the polling day.
