ELECTORAL AFFAIRS COMMISSION (ELECTORAL PROCEDURE) (DISTRICT COUNCILS) REGULATION - SECT 26

A candidate may appoint election agent

Division 3: Election Agents and Election Expense Agents

(1) A candidate may appoint one person as his or her election agent.

(2) Only a person who is a holder of an identity card and has attained the age
of 18 years may be appointed as an election agent.

(3) A candidate must give notice of appointment of his or her election agent
to the Returning Officer.

(4) The appointment of an election agent is not effective until notice of the
appointment is received by the Returning Officer.

(5) A notice for the purposes of this section must be in writing and state the
name, identity card number and residential address of the election agent.

(6) The notice must be signed by the candidate.

(7) A candidate cannot have more than one election agent at any one time.

(8) If the appointment of an election agent is revoked, the candidate must
give notice of the revocation to the Returning Officer as soon as possible.

(9) A notice of revocation must be in writing and be signed by the candidate.

(10) The revocation of the appointment of an election agent is not effective
until notice of revocation is received by the Returning Officer.

(11) If at any time an election agent dies or the appointment of an
election agent is revoked, the candidate may appoint a replacement.

(12) The appointment of a replacement must be in accordance with the
requirements of this section.

(13) A notice of appointment or a notice of revocation under this section must
be in the specified form.

(14) Subject to subsection (15), an election agent may do all things which a
candidate may do in connection with an election. Any such act of the
election agent is effective as if it had been done by the candidate in person.

(15) An election agent may not-

   (a)  do anything a candidate is required to do under section 12;

   (b)  withdraw a candidate's candidature; or

   (c)  authorize any person for the purposes of section 28.
