MERCHANT SHIPPING (SEAFARERS) (CREW ACCOMMODATION) REGULATION - SECT 13

Awnings

Every ship for the time being regularly engaged on voyages to or within the
Tropics or the Persian Gulf shall be provided with-

   (a)  awnings suitable to cover such area of any deck space provided
        pursuant to section 26(8) for the recreation of the crew as will, when
        covered with the awnings, provide a shaded area of adequate extent
        having regard to the number of persons in the crew and to any shade
        provided on that deck space by overhanging decks; and

   (b)  stanchions or other suitable supports for those awnings. (Enacted
