MERCHANT SHIPPING (SEAFARERS) (PROVISIONS AND WATER) REGULATION - SECT 6
Duty of master, etc. to inspect provisions and water
(1) It shall be the duty of the master of a ship to ensure that he, or a
person authorized by him for the purposes of this section, together with a
member of the crew employed in catering on the ship, inspects not less than
once each week provisions and water provided on the ship for the purpose of
checking whether they comply with section 5(1).
(2) The results of each inspection carried out pursuant to subsection (1)
shall be recorded by the master in the official log book and the entry shall
be signed by him and a member of the crew employed in catering on the ship.
