MERCHANT SHIPPING (SEAFARERS) (HOURS OF WORK) REGULATION - SECT 8

Offences and penalties

(1) The master of a ship who, without reasonable excuse, requires or permits a
seafarer to participate in a watch in contravention of section 4 commits an
offence and is liable on conviction to a fine at level 3.

(2) The master of a ship who, without reasonable excuse, contravenes section 5
or 7 commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine at level 1.

(3) An employer who, without reasonable excuse, permits a contravention of
section 4 commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine at level 5.

(4) An employer who, without reasonable excuse, contravenes section  7 commits
an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine at level 2. (Enacted 1995)
