AMUSEMENT RIDES (SAFETY) (OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE) REGULATION - SECT 23
Competent person to issue instructions to operators
PART VII
GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
(1) Subject to this section, the competent person in respect of an amusement
ride shall prepare and issue to each operator (including each chief operator)
instructions in writing on the action to be taken by operators-
(a) where there is such stoppage of the ride as may be specified in the
instructions;
(b) in the event of the malfunction of a safety device;
(c) in the event of a rescue of passengers;
(d) on the occasion of any fire or accident; and
(e) in the safe-keeping of operating keys, together with such other
instructions that may be required by the Director to improve the safe
operation of the ride.
(2) Any instructions prepared by the competent person under subsection (1)
shall be approved by the Director before they are issued.
(3) For the purpose of subsection (2), the competent person in respect of an
amusement ride shall-
(a) in the case of an existing amusement ride, not later than 4 months
after the appointed day;
(b) in any other case, before approval is given under section 10 of the
Ordinance to the commencement of operation of the ride, submit to the
Director any instructions prepared by the competent person under
subsection (1). (Enacted 1994)
