BOUNDARY AND ELECTION COMMISSION (ELECTORAL PROCEDURE) (FUNCTIONAL CONSTITUENCIES AND ELECTION COMMITTEE CONSTITUENCY) REGULATION - SECT 29

Admission to polling stations

(1) Except where otherwise provided in this Regulation, a person shall not
enter a polling station other than for the purpose of voting.

(2) Subject to subsection (3), for the purpose of ensuring that polling takes
place smoothly and efficiently, the presiding officer may-

   (a)  notwithstanding section 27(9), regulate the number of electors,
        candidates, election agents and polling agents to be admitted to the
        polling station at any one time; and

   (b)  exclude any person from the polling station.

(3) The presiding officer shall not exclude under subsection (2)(b)-

   (a)  the officers named in the list referred to in section 21(3);

   (b)  the returning officer of each constituency in respect of which the
        polling station is designated;

   (c)  members of the Commission;

   (d)  police officers on duty at the polling station;

   (e)  persons authorized in writing by a member of the Commission;

   (f)  the Chief Electoral Officer; and

   (g)  public officers authorized in writing by the Chief Electoral Officer.

(4) The presiding officer shall not exercise his powers under subsection (2)
so as to prevent an elector from voting at the polling station he is entitled
to vote at. (Enacted 1995)
