BOUNDARY AND ELECTION COMMISSION (ELECTORAL PROCEDURE) (FUNCTIONAL CONSTITUENCIES AND ELECTION COMMITTEE CONSTITUENCY) REGULATION - SECT 26

Keeping order in no canvassing areas and no staying areas

(1) The presiding officer shall use his best endeavours to ensure that a
person does not, on the polling day-

   (a)  engage in the canvassing of votes in the no canvassing area; or

   (b)  stay or loiter in the no staying area (except where the person has
        been permitted to do so by the presiding officer).

(2) If any person misconducts himself in a no canvassing area or no staying
area or fails to obey a lawful order of the returning officer or
the presiding officer, such officer may order that person to leave the no
canvassing area or no staying area, as the case may be, immediately and if he
fails to so leave, he may be removed from the no canvassing area or no staying
area, as the case may be, by a police officer, or by any other person
authorized in writing by the returning officer or the presiding  officer to
remove him and the person so removed shall not, except with the permission of
the returning officer or the presiding officer, as the case may be, enter the
no canvassing area or no staying area, as the case may be, on that day.

(3) The powers conferred by this section shall not be exercised so as to
prevent an elector from voting at the polling station he is entitled to vote
at. (Enacted 1995)
