BOUNDARY AND ELECTION COMMISSION (ELECTORAL PROCEDURE) (FUNCTIONAL CONSTITUENCIES AND ELECTION COMMITTEE CONSTITUENCY) REGULATION - SECT 15

Appointment of election agent

(1) A candidate may appoint a person who has attained the age of 18 years as
his election agent.

(2) The candidate shall give the returning officer notice of any appointment
under subsection (1).

(3) An appointment of an election agent shall not be effective until the
notice given for the purposes of subsection (2) is received by the
returning officer.

(4) A notice for the purposes of subsection (2) shall-

   (a)  state the identity card number, name and address of the election
        agent;

   (b)  be signed by the candidate and the election agent; and

   (c)  be in the specified form.

(5) A candidate shall not have more than one election agent at any one time.

(6) Where the appointment of an election agent is revoked the candidate shall
give notice of the revocation to the returning officer.

(7) A notice for the purposes of subsection (6) shall be in writing and a
revocation of an appointment of an election agent shall not be effective until
such notice is received by the returning officer.

(8) If at any time an election agent dies or his appointment is revoked, the
candidate may appoint another person as election agent in his place in
accordance with this section.

(9) An election agent may do all things which the candidate may do in
connection with an election or by-election except-

   (a)  anything a candidate is required to do under section 6;

   (b)  withdraw the candidate's candidature; and

   (c)  authorize any person for the purposes of section 17, and any such act
        of the election agent shall be effective as if it had been done by the
        candidate in person. (Enacted 1995)
