Nomination and deposit

(1) The returning officer shall not accept a nomination paper unless it is
accompanied by the appropriate deposit.

(2) Where a deposit is received by the returning officer, he shall issue a
receipt for the amount of the deposit.

(3) In this section "appropriate deposit" (適當的按金) means, having
regard to whether the election is in respect of the Legislative Council, the
Urban Council, the Regional Council or a District Board, the amount which is
prescribed by any regulations made under the Electoral Provisions  Ordinance (
Cap 367), as the deposit payable as regards the nomination of a candidate in
respect of that election. (Enacted 1994) "appropriate deposit"
