ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS (SAFETY) REGULATION - SECT 8
Issue of certificate of safety compliance
(1) Subject to subsection (2), no document shall be accepted by the Director
as a certificate of safety compliance unless it is-
(a) a CB Test Certificate issued by a National Certification Body under
the CB Scheme which is also a recognized certification body;
(b) a certificate or test report issued by an organization which has been
authorized by HOKLAS to endorse the certificate or test report in the
name of HOKLAS and is also a recognized certification body;
(c) a certificate or test report issued by an organization which has been
authorized by an accreditation body to endorse the certificate or
test report in the name of that accreditation body and is also a
recognized certification body;
(d) a declaration of conformity issued by a recognized manufacturer; or
(e) a certificate or test report which, in the opinion of the Director,
demonstrates that an electrical product complies with the
applicable safety requirements. (L.N. 77 of 2000)
(2) A declaration of conformity issued by a manufacturer of a product not
specified in column 2 of Schedule 2 may be accepted by the Director as a
certificate of safety compliance where the information contained in the
declaration of conformity is the same as the information required under
section 7(2) other than paragraphs (a) and (d) of that subsection.
(3) The Director may-
(a) refuse to accept a certificate of safety compliance which has been
issued in respect of an electrical product which does not comply with
the applicable safety requirements; and
(b) publish in the Gazette the name of the manufacturer and the details of
the electrical product referred to in paragraph (a). (L.N. 77 of 2000)
