Overcurrent protective devices

A circuit shall be protected against overcurrent by a device that-

   (a)  operates automatically to break the circuit before the safe current
        rating of the circuit is exceeded;

   (b)  is of adequate breaking capacity;

   (c)  is suitably located; and

   (d)  is properly constructed, so as to prevent danger from overheating,
        arcing or the scattering of hot particles when the device comes into
        operation and so as to permit restoration of the supply without
        danger. (Enacted 1990)
