ROAD TRAFFIC (TRAFFIC CONTROL) REGULATIONS - REGULATION 51A
Obstruction by North-west Railway vehicles and trams
(1) Subject to subregulation (2), the driver of a vehicle of the North-west
Railway or tram shall not cause or permit the vehicle or tram to stand on a
road in such a position or in such condition or in such circumstances as to be
likely to cause any unnecessary obstruction of the road or any danger to other
persons using the road.
(2) subregulation (1) shall not apply-
(a) where the vehicle or tram is prevented from proceeding by mechanical
breakdown or other circumstances beyond the driver's control, and all
reasonable steps are taken to minimize the obstruction and effect the
removal of the vehicle or tram as soon as possible; or
(b) to anything done with the express permission or by the direction of a
police officer in uniform or a traffic warden in uniform. (L.N. 221 of
