ROAD TRAFFIC (DRIVING LICENCES) REGULATIONS - SCHEDULE 11
REQUIREMENTS FOR A MOTOR CYCLE DRIVING TEST
[regulations 12C & 12D]
1. Part A of a motor cycle driving test shall comprise a written test
requiring a candidate for the test to satisfy an authorized examiner that he
is fully conversant with the Road Users' Code promulgated, and from time to
time revised, under section 109 of the Ordinance.
2. Part B of a motor cycle driving test shall comprise a basic driving skill
test conducted in a designated driving school requiring a candidate for the
test to satisfy an authorized examiner that the he is able to-
(a) read at a distance of 23 m in good daylight (with the aid of
spectacles or other corrective lenses, if worn) a motor vehicle
registration mark;
(b) start the engine of the motor cycle or motor tricycle;
(c) move away straight ahead or at an angle;
(d) turn right an left-hand corners correctly;
(e) stop the motor cycle or motor tricycle in an emergency and normally,
and in the latter case to bring it to rest at an appropriate part of
the road; and
(f) give signals in a clear and unmistakable manner at appropriate times
to indicate his intended action.
3. Part C of a motor cycle driving test shall comprise a road test requiring a
candidate for the test to satisfy an authorized examiner that he is able to-
(a) start the engine of the motor cycle or motor tricycle;
(b) move away straight ahead or at an angle;
(c) overtake, meet or cross the path of other vehicles and take an
appropriate course;
(d) turn right and left-hand corners correctly;
(e) stop the motor cycle or motor tricycle on a slope and restart;
(f) stop the motor cycle or motor tricycle in an emergency and normally,
and in the latter case to bring it to rest at an appropriate part of
the road;
(g ride in a figure of "8" on a slope while at the same time keep the motor
cycle or motor tricycle under control and without losing balance;
(h) lift the motor cycle or motor tricycle on stand without losing
balance;
(i) give signals in a clear and unmistakable manner at appropriate times
to indicate his intended action; and
(j) generally demonstrate that he is competent to ride a motor cycle or
motor tricycle without danger to and with due consideration for other
users of the road. (L.N. 273 of 1989)
