MERCHANT SHIPPING (INSTRUCTIONS TO SURVEYORS) (PASSENGER SHIPS) REGULATIONS - REGULATION 91
Survey of inside of hull
For the proper examination of the interior structure the surveyor is to have
removed such parts of the ceiling, etc., as he may consider necessary to
enable him to ascertain the condition of all plating, stringers, frames,
floors, rivets, etc., particularly in the engine room, boiler space and coal
bunkers. Where cement is fitted it should be examined, and where it is cracked
or otherwise of doubtful appearance, the examination is to be extended, such
portions of the cement being removed as may in the opinion of the surveyor be
necessary to enable him to form a correct opinion of the state of the plating,
rivets, etc., in way of the cement.
