Discharge and storage of logs and timber
PART VII
LOGS AND OTHER TIMBER
(1) Except with the written permission of the Director, no person shall-
(a) load or discharge on or from a vessel logs or other timber onto or
from any waterfront or seawall within the boundaries of any port other
than within the limits of a privately owned or leased waterfront or
seawall;
(b) discharge logs or other timber from a vessel into the waters of Hong
Kong other than in a timber storage pound;
(c) store logs or other timber in the waters of Hong Kong other than in a
timber storage pound;
(d) tow logs, or permit them to lie afloat or rest on the sea bed,in the
waters of Hong Kong other than in a timber storage pound; or
(e) discharge logs or other timber (other than sawn timber) from one
vessel to another in the waters of Hong Kong.
(2) Any person who contravenes paragraph (1) commits an offence and is liable
to a fine of $10000 and to imprisonment for 6 months.
(3) The owner or his agent or master of a vessel from which it is intended to
discharge logs or other timber (other than sawn timber) into any other vessel
within the waters of Hong Kong shall give notice of such intention to the
Director, in such form as the Director may specify, not less than 24 hours
before the discharge commences.
