PRISON RULES - RULE 11

Prisoner's property

(1) Money found on a prisoner committed for non-payment of a fine shall,
unless a magistrate otherwise directs in writing on the warrant of commitment,
be applied towards the fine adjudged to be paid, provided that the prisoner
shall be allowed to keep $10 and any lesser sum which does not represent a
day's imprisonment. (L.N. 2 of 1974)

(2) Subject to the provisions of paragraph (1), all money, clothing and other
effects belonging to a prisoner which he is not allowed to retain, shall be
placed in the custody of the Superintendent, who shall cause an inventory
thereof to be kept. Such inventory shall be signed by the prisoner concerned
certifying its correctness. (G.N.A. 79 of 1956)
