CROSS-HARBOUR TUNNEL BY-LAWS - BYLAW 24
Tobacco and naked flames

1. According to L.N. 90 of 1999 and Ord. No. 44 of 1999-
(a) the Cross-Harbour Tunnel Ordinance ( Cap 203) and all subsidiary
legislation made thereunder are repealed;
(b) the Secretary for Transport may by regulation provide for such
consequential amendments (whether made to the provisions of any
Ordinance or to the provisions of any subsidiary legislation), and
such savings and transitional arrangements, as are required or
expedient consequent on that repeal. The above provisions shall only
apply to take effect on and after 1 September 1999. 2. For saving and
transitional provisions, see L.N. 198 of 1999 ss. 2 to 4 (reproduced
at the footnotes to the Schedule to Cap 368). When requested by a
tunnel officer, a person in the tunnel area shall-
(a) extinguish a lighted cigarette, cigar or pipe in his possession;
(b) refrain from exposing a naked flame or causing a spark.
