ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION - SECT 1 VerDate:01/01/2000 (1) It shall not be lawful for any person by himself or by any billposter or other person employed by him to affix or otherwise exhibit any hoarding, notice board or poster used for the purpose of advertising upon or against private property without the consent of the owner or his representative and of the occupier, or upon or against Government property without the consent in writing of the Director of Lands or any other public officer authorized by the Director, or except by virtue of some other sufficient legal authority. (2) This by-law shall not apply to any bumboat man bona fide advertising his own name and trade and not advertising the saleable commodities of another. (2) In this by-law, "occulting sign" (閃動標誌) includes any sign whereby the light thereof is cut off from view at regular or irregular intervals and any sign which emits light suddenly or intermittently. ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION - SECT 9 (Repealed 78 of 1999 s. 7) VerDate:01/01/2000 ADVERTISEMENTS BY-LAWS - BYLAW 9 VerDate:30/06/1997 Neon, etc., light signs On the hoisting of the No. 5 or any storm signal above that number, electric current supplying the transformers of neon signs attached to the outside of any building shall be cut off and such current shall remain cut off so long as any of the said signals remain hoisted. ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION - SECT 11 VerDate:01/01/2000 No person shall erect or cause to be erected or allow to remain on or in any premises occupied or used by him any sign which interferes with road traffic. (78 of 1999 s. 7) ADVERTISEMENTS BY-LAWS - BYLAW 11 VerDate:30/06/1997 No person shall erect or cause to be erected or allow to remain on or in any premises occupied or used by him any such sign which obstructs or renders less effective any fire-escape or other means of escape in, on or from any building, or which interferes with road traffic. ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION - SECT 12 VerDate:01/01/2000 Whenever it appears to the Director of Fire Services that any neon, electric or other similar light sign is for any reason, including inefficient maintenance, a source of serious risk of fire, it shall be lawful for him, by notice in writing specifying the reason, to require the removal of the sign. Within 7 days of the service of any such notice, the person by or for whom the sign was erected and is maintained shall cause the sign to be removed unless within such period of 7 days he satisfies the Director of Fire Services, by remedying any defect or otherwise, that the notice can safely be withdrawn. ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION - SECT 13 VerDate:01/01/2000 In this Regulation, "neon sign" (霓虹燈標誌) means any arrangement of glass tubing charged with neon, argon, helium or other inert gas which when subjected to electrical pressure gives a bright glow, whether in the form of letters, characters, model, device, border or outline, designed to attract public attention to any building or place on or in which it may be affixed. "neon sign" (霓虹燈標誌) ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION - SECT 14 VerDate:01/01/2000 Penalties and Citation (1) Any person who contravenes section 1(1), 6, 11 or 12 shall commit an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine at level 1. (L.N. 82 of 1986) (2) Upon conviction for an offence against any of the sections mentioned in subsection (1), an order may be made for the removal of the advertisement. (3) Any person who fails to comply with any such order shall be liable to a fine of $50 for every day that he is in default and to imprisonment for 3 months. (L.N. 177 of 1996; 78 of 1999 s. 7) ADVERTISEMENTS BY-LAWS - BYLAW 14 VerDate:30/06/1997 Penalties and Citation (1) Any person who contravenes by-law 1(1), 3(1), 5(1), 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 shall commit an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine at level 1.
