BUILDING (STANDARDS OF SANITARY FITMENTS, PLUMBING, DRAINAGE WORKS AND LATRINES) REGULATIONS - REGULATION 82

Lighting and ventilation

(1) Every latrine shall be provided with an opening for light and ventilation.

(2) Every such opening shall-

   (a)  be such that the part thereof which is permanently open or designed to
        open, as the case may be, is not less in area than 0.2 m2 ; (L.N. 294
        of 1976)

   (b)  be situated as near the ceiling of the latrine as practicable;

   (c)  communicate directly with the open air; and

   (d)  be covered with a metal or other approved mesh flyscreen.
