PART II

STANDARDS OF SANITARY FITMENTS

In the regulations in this Part, unless the context otherwise requires-

"factory" (工廠), "mine" (礦場) and "industrial undertaking"
(工業經營) have the meaning assigned to them by section 2 of the
Factories and Industrial  Undertakings Ordinance ( Cap 59);

"habitable space" (可居住空間) means the aggregate of the areas of the
floors in a building, excluding kitchens, staircases, staircase halls, lift
landings, the space used in providing the watercloset fitments, urinals and
lavatory basins, required, by this regulation, to be provided, and any space
occupied by machinery for any lift;

"living room" (起居室) means any room intended or adapted as a place for
cooking or sleeping;

"public dance hall" (公眾舞廳) means any place opened, kept or used for
the purpose of dancing, to which the general public is admitted, with or
without payment for admission;

"residential building" (住宅建築物) means a domestic building, but does
not include any hostel, dormitory or other room or premises provided for
housing or lodging some or all of the pupils of any school out of school
hours, whether such hostel dormitory or other room or premises is in or is
part of the same building or group of buildings as the classrooms in the
school or not; (73 of 1983 s. 3)

"school" (學校) has the meaning assigned to it by section 3 of the
Education Ordinance ( Cap 279);

"tenement house" (唐樓) means a building in the domestic part of which any
living room is intended or adapted for the use of more than one tenant or
sub-tenant;

"usable floor space" (實用樓面空間) means the aggregate of the areas of
the floors in a building, excluding any staircases, staircase halls, lift
landings, the space used in providing the watercloset fitments, urinals and
lavatory basins required, by this regulation, to be provided, and any space
occupied by machinery for any lift, air-conditioning system or similar service
provided for the building (L.N. 196 of 1996)
