IMMIGRATION (VIETNAMESE BOAT PEOPLE) (SHEK KWU CHAU DETENTION CENTRE) RULES - RULE 14

Detainees' property

(1) Money and other effects belonging to a detainee on admission to the Centre
may, if the detainee so requests, be placed in the custody of the Manager.

(2) The Manager shall keep an inventory of all money and other effects placed
in his custody under subrule (1) and such inventory shall be signed by the
detainee concerned to certify its correctness.

(3) Subject to subrule (4), all money and effects of a detainee placed in the
custody of the Manager under this rule shall be returned to the detainee on
his release from detention and he shall sign the inventory as a receipt.

(4) Any weapon, intoxicating liquor, or dangerous drug, and any perishable,
inflammable or dangerous article or substance belonging to a detainee may be
confiscated and disposed of by the Manager. (Enacted 1991)
