EVIDENCE ORDINANCE - SECT 24
Certificate of accuracy of chronometer
(Past version on 30/06/1997).
A document purporting to be a record of the testing of and the accuracy of a
chronometer and purporting to be certified by an officer of the Hong Kong
Observatory shall be admitted in evidence in criminal or civil proceedings
before any court on its production without further proof, and- (Amended L.N.
362 of 1997)
(a) until the contrary is proved the court before which such document is
produced shall presume-
(i) that the document is certified by such officer;
(ii) that the facts stated in the document relating to the
chronometer are true; and
(iii) that the record was made and compiled at the time referred to
in the document; and
(b) such document shall be prima facie evidence of all matters contained
therein. (Added 46 of 1967 s. 2. Amended 31 of 1969 s. 4)
