VILLAGE REPRESENTATIVE ELECTION ORDINANCE - SECT 7

How long a Village Representative holds office

(1) Subject to sections 8 and 11, a person elected at the first 
village ordinary election as a Village Representative-

   (a)  holds office for 3 years and 6 months beginning on 1 October 2003; and

   (b)  vacates office at the end of that period.

(2) Subject to sections 8 and 11, a person elected at any subsequent
village ordinary election as a Village Representative-

   (a)  holds office for 4 years beginning on 1 April next following the
        ordinary election; and

   (b)  vacates office at the end of that period.

(3) If a vacancy occurs in the office of village representative for a Village
before the expiry of the term of office of the Village  Representative and a
person is elected at a village by-election to fill the vacancy, the person,
subject to sections 8 and 11-

   (a)  holds office from the date on which the result of the by-election is
        declared; and

   (b)  vacates office on that expiry of the term of office.
