Office of resident representative for Existing Village

PART 2

OFFICE OF VILLAGE REPRESENTATIVE

(1) There is established for an Existing Village the office of
resident representative with effect from the date specified in column 3 of
Schedule 1 opposite the name of the Village specified in column 1 of that
Schedule. The number of persons to hold the office of resident  representative
established for an Existing Village is specified in column 4 of that Schedule
opposite the name of the Village specified in column 1 of that Schedule.

(2) A Resident Representative shall be elected under this Ordinance.

(3) The function of a Resident Representative for an Existing  Village is to
reflect views on the affairs of the Village on behalf of the residents of the
Village. A Resident Representative shall not deal with any affair relating to
the lawful traditional rights and interests of indigenous inhabitants.
