VILLAGE REPRESENTATIVE ELECTION ORDINANCE - SECT 29
What is to happen if insufficient number of candidates is nominated for a Village
(1) If, after the close of nominations of candidates for election for a
Village, no more candidates have been validly nominated for election for the
Village than the number of Village Representatives to be returned for the
Village at the election, the Returning Officer for the Village shall, in
accordance with the EAC Regulations, publicly declare the candidate to be duly
elected as a Village Representative for the Village.
(2) If, after the close of nominations of candidates for election for a
Village, no candidate was validly nominated for election for the Village, or
the number of candidates validly nominated for election for the Village was
less than the number of Village Representatives to be returned for the Village
at the election, the Returning Officer for the Village shall, by notice
published in the Gazette, declare the election-
(a) to have failed; or
(b) (where more than one Village Representative is to be returned for the
Village at the election) to have failed to the extent that the number
of candidates validly nominated was less than the number of Village
Representatives to be returned.
