Effect of this Part on legislation and common law

On and from 18/7/97 to 31/10/97, the Employment Ordinance ( Cap 57) shall be
read as if the amendments effected by the Employment (Amendment) (No.4)
Ordinance 1997 (98of 1997) had not been enancted. Please refer to Cap 538 s.5
(126 of 1997)

(1) Where any provision of an Ordinance which permits or requires a person to
do an act which is unlawful under this Part does not admit of a construction
that is consistent with this Part, it is hereby repealed to the extent of the
inconsistency with this Part.

(2) For the avoidance of doubt a rule of the common law which permits or
requires a person to do an act which is unlawful under this Part is hereby
abrogated. (Added 98 of 1997 s. 2)
