DISTRICT COUNCILS ORDINANCE - SECT 8
Chief Executive in Council may amend Schedule 1, 2 or 3
(1) The Chief Executive in Council may subject to the approval of the
Legislative Council, by order published in the Gazette, amend Schedule 1, 2 or
3.
(2) Without limiting the generality of subsection (1), the power given to the
Chief Executive in Council under that subsection includes a power-
(a) to determine the number of Districts; and
(b) to declare new Districts in place of the Districts existing at the
time an order under subsection (1) is made; and
(c) to establish a District Council for any District declared under
section 3 or this section and specify a date for the establishment;
and
(d) to specify the number of members to be elected to a District Council
and the number of members to be appointed to it; and
(e) to specify the election for which an order made under this section
applies.
(3) An order under this section may contain such incidental, consequential,
supplemental, transitional or saving provisions necessary or expedient in
consequence of the order.
