DISTRICT COUNCILS ORDINANCE - SECT 16
When appointed member's office becomes vacant and appointment of a substitute
(1) An appointed member's office becomes vacant if the member-
(a) dies; or
(b) resigns in accordance with section 15 or is taken to have resigned
under section 10; or
(c) is disqualified under section 14 from holding office as an
appointed member.
(2) When the office of an appointed member becomes vacant under subsection
(1), the Chief Executive may appoint another person to hold office as an
appointed member in that member's place.
(3) Subject to section 13, a person appointed under subsection (2) holds
office from the date specified in the letter of appointment and vacates office
on 31 December of the year in which an ordinary election is next held after
the appointment.
