MERCHANT SHIPPING (SAFETY) ORDINANCE - SECT 81
Notice of loss of Hong Kong ship to be given to the Director
(1) If the owner or agent of any ship registered in Hong Kong has reason,
owing to the non-appearance of the ship or to any other circumstance, to
believe that the ship has been wholly lost he shall, as soon as practicable,
submit a written report of the loss to the Director.
(2) The written report referred to in subsection (1) shall specify-
(a) the probable cause of the loss of the ship; and
(b) the name of the ship and its official number.
(3) Any owner or agent who fails to comply with this section commits an
offence and is liable to a fine of $2000.
