Abandonment of part of claim to give Court jurisdiction

(1) The Court has jurisdiction to hear and determine an action that is in
excess of the Court's monetary jurisdiction limit on the plaintiff abandoning
the amount of the plaintiff's claim in excess and the action is one in which
the Court otherwise has jurisdiction.

(2) The Court cannot award to the plaintiff in an action under this section an
amount exceeding the Court's monetary jurisdiction limit for the action.

(3) The judgment of the Court in an action limited under this section is in
full discharge of all demands in the cause of action. (Replaced 28 of 2000 s.
