LIFTS AND ESCALATORS (SAFETY) ORDINANCE - SECT 21
Periodic examination of lifts
The owner of every lift shall, at intervals not exceeding 12 months, cause the
lift to be thoroughly examined by a registered lift engineer in order to
determine whether the lift and all machinery and equipment connected therewith
is in safe working order and, without prejudice to the generality of the
foregoing, every such examination shall include, where applicable, an
examination of the motor, brakes and control equipment of the lift, of the
interlocking devices provided for the doors or gates of the lift-way and the
car of the lift, and of the safety equipment provided for the lift.
