ADOPTION ORDINANCE - SECT 22

Prohibition of certain payments

(1) Save with the sanction of the Court, no person shall make or give or agree
to make or give, or receive or agree to receive, or attempt to obtain, any
payment, remuneration or reward whatsoever in connection, directly or
indirectly, with the adoption or proposed adoption of an infant, except in
consideration of the professional services of a qualified barrister or
solicitor within the meaning of the Legal  Practitioners Ordinance ( Cap 159).

(2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be guilty
of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of $2000 and to imprisonment for 6
months.

(3) The provisions of this section shall not apply to the payment to the
Director of any fee prescribed by rules made in accordance with the provisions
