Provisions as to persons legitimated by extraneous law
(Past version on 30/06/1997).
Amendments retroactively made-see 23 of 1998 s. 2
(1) Where the parents of an illegitimate person marry or have married one
another, whether before or after the commencement of this Ordinance, and the
father of the illegitimate person was or is, at the time of the marriage,
domiciled in or had a substantial connexion with a place outside Hong Kong, by
the law of which the illegitimate person became legitimated by virtue of such
subsequent marriage, that person, if living, shall in Hong Kong be recognized
as having been so legitimated from the commencement of this Ordinance or from
the date of the marriage, whichever last happens, notwithstanding that his

have a substantial connexion with a place in which legitimation by subsequent
marriage was permitted by law. (Amended 23 of 1998 s. 2)
(2) (Repealed 23 of 1998 s. 2) [cf. 1926 c. 60 s. 8(1) & (3) U.K.]
